Guiding during the Covid-19 outbreak
How lockdown affects how we can meet
Latest from Girlguiding – January 2021
The current third national lockdown has once again sadly impacted on our ability hold face to face meetings. The latest from Girlguiding is below:
No face-to-face guiding meetings can happen during lockdown, indoors or outdoors. This includes adult volunteer meetings and/or training sessions.
The only exception is where vulnerable young people require essential face-to-face support. Where meeting face-to-face is considered essential, a targeted small group of no more than 10 girls who need the continued in-person support of guiding can meet. This decision is based on government and youth services' advice to minimise risk of transmission for volunteers and young people.
We encourage you to still meet virtually with your unit. We may not be able to meet in person but we know that girls need Girlguiding more than ever in these difficult times – take a look at:

• Hints and tips for running your first virtual meeting
Remember to keep checking the Girlguiding website for the latest information on meetings, and for ideas for activities to enjoy virtually until we can meet in person again.
Locally, all planned activities, events and trainings around the County have been either cancelled or deferred. Please visit the ‘calendar’ tab at the top of the page to find revised dates and information once events can resume in accordance with Guidance.
Our grateful thanks are extended to all those Leaders who are continuing to adapt their skills and put new measures in place to enable guiding to continue during this challenging time.
